Hybrid car!
For this project, our goal was to create a vehicle that is powered by NO chemicals including gasoline bio fuels and electricity. The car had to work (obviously) and had to be able to propel itself five meters then stop at five meters. This would be no easy task but my fellow group members (Mikey Harris , Noah Prochnow , Lindsey Loeber) and I would make do with our limited window of time to create such a vehicle...thus, the Hipster Mobile was created.
The Physics involved
Spring Constant:The amount of elasticity an object has. A rubber band for example has a much higher spring constant than a stone would. This is measured in newtons per minute N/m
Power: The rate work can be exerted. The hipster mobile had lots of power thus making it quite fast compared to cars of other groups.
Elastic Energy: The energy within elastic objects/materials when they are stretched or compressed together....since it is a form of energy the unit is joules J.

Statistics
Advantages of the Hipster Mobile:
1. Price for refueling is 0$. It runs on elastic energy instead of fuels and chemicals. Cars that use gasoline annually take 2 grand for fuel and 1 grand for electric cars.
2. Insane paint job!
3. Price of components amounts to $4.20
Performance:
In our tests, Hipster Mobile accelerates 1.28 m/s in the 1st meter, .17m/s in the 2nd, did not accelerate on the 3rd, accelerated .57m/s on the fourth, and decelerated at the last meter.
Top speed for our car was 3.24 mph for the model. However hypothetically the car would reach a top speed of 76 mph if the car were to scale. 1cm:6 in.

Reflection
At the end of our project which involved some failed prototypes including the steam engine car which we built but failed since it wasn't sealed tightly enough to keep the air pressure high enough to power the car. Though our group had some deep grudges for one another for no apparent reason, we put them aside to work towards one common goal of building the car. I felt that we didn't manage our time as well as we could have since we were rushed to build hipster mobile and quickly come up with a presentation on the last day of building.
I also learned that the faster people set aside past grudges and conflicts, the faster work could get done. I also noticed that at the end of the project people in my group were sorry for treating others in the group badly...perhaps this project was not just one about hipster mobile, but about an important life lesson. I found that i am not a bad presenter even though i still feel super scared and nervous when we presented out car to the class.I suppose presenting takes a mask of courage over the face of fear. All in all twas a jolly good project with a more or less friendly team.
