CARDBOARD CHAIRS
Wait a second, cardboard is about as sturdy and reliable as the french army, right? Yes it is, when it is by itself. When you put cardboard in a grid-like structure, the stability increases dramatically. Put some triangles between the grid squares, and you have a chair that can support a large amount of weight while being quite comfortable. We decided to make a "chair" along the lines of a psychiatrist mattress.
OUR PRODUCT
As you can see, this is not a scale product, but rather is a model since there was a rather limited amount of time. Also, you can see our schematics or blueprints below.
Content & Reflection
The weren't many scientific pieces during this project, just mostly working on structural stability and how to improve that aspect of our
design. Overall, the product turned out relatively well, and my group (Noah, Spencer, Leo, and I) managed our time effectively. One of
our main issues, was in measuring the components of the prototype. If one person was off by a bit, we had to scrap it and start over.
This was rather frustrating and so some time was lost when this happened. Our group was quite enthusiastic throughout the project which
made setbacks somewhat irrelevant. In the end, it was a fun project to end a great year.
